Welcome to Mbale Hikers & Outdoor Club

Mbale Hikers & Outdoor Club is a thriving community of over 400 members rooted in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. We were founded on a simple belief: that walking in nature, connecting with the land, and sharing outdoor challenges brings people closer together.

From gentle nature walks along village paths to demanding multi-day treks up Wagagai Peak, we bring both new and experienced outdoor enthusiasts together for adventure, skill-building, and lifelong friendship. We exist not only to explore our region’s breathtaking landscapes, but to serve and uplift the communities that call them home.

To bring people together through outdoor adventure, creating opportunities for challenge, fitness, personal growth, and meaningful connection with nature and local communities.

To inspire more people to discover the beauty and adventure of Mount Elgon and Eastern Uganda, building a welcoming outdoor community where people grow in confidence, develop new skills, forge lasting friendships, and create meaningful experiences together.

Our team, members, guests, and local communities are at the heart of everything we do. We value one another, foster a sense of belonging, and believe that the best adventures are shared.

We strive to deliver meaningful experiences and sustainable growth for our club, members, and local partners, while contributing positively to the communities and places we explore.

We are committed to our promises, our people, and our purpose. We show up, support one another, and go the extra mile to make every experience worthwhile.

We pursue high standards in safety, service, and organisation. We keep learning, improving, and paying attention to the details that make every adventure exceptional.

We explore with respect, protect the places we visit, and seek to leave a positive impact on nature and local communities.
